any time you have people placing ideas above other people, you have a cult potential... but mostly when you have dominant alpha male types becoming shepherds of the sheep--- you have fleecing and slaughtering as a likely outcome.

Consent should be based on compentancy, there are 18-20 year olds who are not mentally or emotionally prepared to consent, while there are 13-14 year olds who are.... case by case should be judged and not simply by any specific age... though a lower limit of about 13 should likely be imposed as that is traditional in most of the world for most of the worlds history.

responsibility is not something we have to wonder about.... as individual players in this game, we are all held accountable by each other... if you harm me and mine, then me and mine will hunt you down and make you pay, etc... whether you wish to claim that you had no choice or not is another matter and irrelevant when we lynch or nail you to something.
reality is what you can get away with.
what makes us different from an adding machine or the most complicated computer is that we CARE about the consequences of our own and the actions of others... we give a $#!+ while no machine can...there is no one home, no one to care... win or lose its all the same to a machine, no worries...
Consciousness of pain and pleasure is the key... we ARE conscious and we do care because of that... freewill does not have to exist for this to remain true... after all we did not make ourselves and so had nothing to say about our true nature, about what makes us like A and hate B.....feel pain for C and pleasure for D... yet we are not closed systems, we can learn things which can modify our behaviors and find new things which become more important than old ones...and since there is predictibility of the future in any useful absolute sense, then our life will always be a continuous adventure.

first off let me thanks for your contributions in advance.. i read this term in post that gave it a negative slant.. masterbaition is good and whole some,,why would some one use it as negative,,unless they veiwed it a negative??

we are wired to soem degree to want sex and to think we need it...but most of that is just illusion brought about by evolutionary needs, not our own personal ones.... you do not necessarily live a better life devoting your time and energy to others... while others try to make you feel bad about being a hermit, there are thousands of monks and nuns who have known better.
A do gooding ego is still an ego - which is not to say it is bad, just calling it what it is. There is nothing wrong with being a hermit, but if you're a hermit because you're addicted to the bliss of emptiness, that's just another kind of attachment. It's the same thing if you're busy doing what would be considered good things because you're into this good guy identity. The real thing just comes naturally, while people interpret it as 'doing for others' the one who is actually there has no sense of other, neither is there any sense of self because the real thing makes any idea unnecessary. Better and higher is only meaningful when there's separation, and viewing the monastic life as better would be just another form of this. So I say don't be so quick to buy into the prevailing view of what the spiritual path is.
I do not think we are in disagreement...but I do think you may have misunderstood my intent. I am not saying any path is superior to any other, to me they are all the same in some ways all different in others.
but I am pointing out that what appears to be the nature of our existance leads to an internal drug addiction and those addicted being the majority making fun of and even harming at times those who deviate from the norms.
As to the path of enlightenment, I find that all systems, living or otherwise tend to seek stability and balance of forces as a natural result of the laws of physics... for a human this means seeking for a state of mind called peace or contentment.... since everything we do is caused by conditions which are the opposite of peace, namely, anxiety, boredom, dis-ease, etc.
As to spiritual paths, I find the term spirit from latin BREATH or HOT AIR, often means following BULL $#!+ dreamed up by the insane or the dishonest, or more often a bit of both, shepherds who are consciously or unconsciously preying on sheep... fleecing and leading them to the slaughter for the benefit of the shepherd.

mental masturbation can be things like meditating as well....
I prefer textual intercourse, but have had orgasmic eppiphanies mostly via mediation.
The stigma on masturbation comes from the notion that we need another to be normal, that alone we are losers and thus the popular F-- You.... meaning [you] [go] F-- you[rself] is really proclaiming you a LOSER who cannot get anyone to F-- with.
people have used this so often that its anger remains but the meaning has long ago been lost.
putting a twist on things, I find SEX to be a form of drug addiction that nature gave us to make us insane enough to give up our own individual persuits and happiness to benefit others we do not even have to like... many a man or woman has sacrificed their own goals because of an overwhelming compulsion to avoid the withdrawl of sexual involvement and to persue the same... After reading those supposed expose's about the misquoting of the WT concerning the trinity, I would have to side with the WT on this one....
the WT quotes what is recognized by them and the author as FACT, but the parts omitted are the OPINIONS of the author which are not agreed by the WT....
it is a FACT that the authors show that the early church did NOT have a full blown TRINITY doctrine EXPLICITLY spelled out... and this is the point the WT is making... the OPINION of the author that this did not matter and he BELIEVES the TRINITY is there anyway is NOT relevant to the point being made.... the WT is showing FACTS are on there side, even if the conclusion the author makes is not.
BTW: I have not been a christian in 14 years, I do not care one way or the other as I believe both sides are WRONG, because I believe all the FACTS show Jesus never existed as a REAL person...but academically, I believe the trinitarians are flat wrong in claiming they get their belief from the bible, I see them reading it backwards into the bible after they get it from each other.

by frankiespeakin ini have been reading about carl jung and the archtypes from the collective unconscious.. i think it very benificial to fantasize or imagine your own personal guru,, to guide you through life,,to have genuine coversations with this mythological figure of your imagination.
i feel such a figure can grow to be quite an asset in dealing with your lifes problems.
they say there are 12 basic types or archtypes,,have any here tried this approach?

this was one of the very first things that I brought up to my still Elder brother in law when me and my now Ex first exited... how can they be SPIRIT DIRECTED but NOT inspired?
we all know what it means....NOT INSPIRED TRANSLATES TO: they pray about things and make a decision on their own and so when they mess up, it's not God's spirit at fault, just over zealous brothers....
while SPIRIT DIRECTED TRANSLATES TO: do as we say or the wrath of God will be upon you because what we say is like God saying it and we can dis-fellowship you if you violate our directives, even if we will over turn them later and admit we were wrong, you will be still be under the wrath of God for not obeying us blindly...even though we never told you to do that (^_^)... whatever you actually do you will be responsible for because of your bible trained conscience...so if you do follow us wrongly you will be damned and if you don't obey us blindly you will be damned, have a nice life.

I disagree with you about crime....
organized crime, be it the governement or the "non-existant" MAFIA or some other secret soceity, does have honor among theives...
they set up a very similar us vs them mentality where THEY are the enemy and not subject to the same protections nor respect as US... and there have been many systems such as these which have been around for a good long time... such as the government (^_^) which in the U.S. created the greatest scam of all... give THEM the illusion of a vote... oh its a vote alright, but WE control ALL choices, not THEM...what ever THEY chose is US no matter how adversarial WE seem to THEM.
